I’ve spoken to you at length on the blog about brand partnerships and sharing products with my community. So you know first hand how important it is for me to partner with brands that align with my values and that, of course, I think would be helpful to you.
Well, this is one of those partnerships that I am super excited to tell you about! I was first approached by Green Beaver to try their new natural, aluminum-free antiperspirant a few months ago. You’ve probably heard a lot about “aluminum-free” lately but this is the first ever 100% natural, aluminimum-free antiperspirant on the Canadian market.
I was excited about the initial opportunity for a few reasons. Firstly, I have Green Beaver products all over my house. Their hand soaps are in all my bathrooms. Secondly, the brand was great about giving me ample time to try the product on a daily basis so I could make sure it works for me and speak to it authentically. Thirdly, I was already a champion of natural-antiperspirants but was having issues with the one I was using at the time (more on that soon).
Now, you know I am not an ALL-natural kind of girl when it comes to my body and household products. And overtime on social media I have received a lot of flack for that. But the thing is, I’m not going to pretend to be somebody I’m not for the sake of pleasing others. I am fully aware of the harmful chemicals that a lot my hair, nails and household products have. Especially now that I am pregnant, I am even more so aware of the toxicity of some of these products. But I am not perfect, I am just trying to do my best.
One area on my body I have chosen to go the natural route is in my armpits. (And I always go the antiperspirant route versus deodorant because I want protection from both sweat and odour, and deodorants only protect you from the odour).
In order to prevent both sweat and odour, most mainstream brands use harmful chemicals like aluminum in their products. Whether it’s true or not, I’ve read so much about the link between breast cancer and chemical based deodorants/antiperspirants that I got scared and decided to make the switch almost 2 years ago.
But natural beauty and skincare products get a lot of hate for just not being quite as good as their chemical-based counterparts. Especially natural antiperspirants. In my experience, I found one that actually worked for me, but I had to give into a lot of things about the product that I didn’t like for the sake of it being natural. The product that I used got EVERYWHERE. The transfer was insane. Not just on my clothes but all over my skin and hands. It was super annoying. Also, after a few uses, the top layer would crystalize and harden so that every time I put it on, I scratched myself or developed an uncomfortable rash. I started using paper towel to clean of the top layer and try and smooth it out, which also wasted so much of the product. Yet, it worked, so I stuck with it.
When it came time to try Green Beaver’s antiperspirant, I already knew what I would be looking for. A lack of transfer, smooth finish, nice and smell…and oh ya, that it works.
Well, after over 2 months of using it on a daily basis, I can safely say that Green Beaver aluminum free antiperspirant works and I would recommend it! It uses a revolutionary NaturaDriTMtechnology that creates a naturally safe moisture barrier which is clinically proven to protect against sweat, wetness and odour. It was also tested by dermatologists and has proven to be hypoallergenic.
The surface stays smooth throughout each use, there is no transfer and it smells great. I have been switching between two scents: Bliss and Escape. Both are mild but smell great.
I would also know a thing or two these days about antiperspirants working. I am in my last few weeks of pregnancy and let’s just say the sweat is real – thank you hormones. There have been a few days where I have had to reapply, but I don’t think all the chemicals in the world could have stopped those hot flashes.
I am excited to have this antiperspirant as new staple in my bathroom (and purse and gym bag, etc.) and hope you give it a try as well!
If you have any questions about the product leave a comment here or ask me on IG.
Happy sweating 😊
