Can you believe Q1 of 2019 is already done? So crazy, right?! So…how’s the year going so far? I mean really, have you actually evaluated where you are in your personal and business life versus where you want to…or thought you would be?
If that answer is no, don’t be hard on yourself. It’s not easy to get real with ourselves and face the truth. But the fact is, we set some pretty exciting and amazing goals for ourselves back in December or January, right? And we are super talented, hard working people who can get shit done if we put our minds to it, right?
So let’s do it. Let’s face those goals head on. Let’s check in to see where we are.
If you’re thinking, ugh, I haven’t done anything, no worries! There is still so much time to make this YOUR year. But we don’t want to procrastinate any longer. So here are 3 ways we can get back on track and stay on top of those 2019 goals:
1.Go find them and look at them!
Simple, right? But maybe some of you wrote them in a beautiful notebook and then never looked at them again. Well, rip that paper out and stick it somewhere you can see. If it’s too stressful to look at them every day, make a note in your calendar for the end of every quarter to pull them out. Just simply looking at what you wrote down will help you get real with the ACTION you need to take to get it accomplished.
2. Set smaller goals with a 30-day deadline.
Maybe set one for every month of Q2 and then you’ll do the same for Q3 and Q4. For example, if you want to come out with a blog, one 30 day goal can be to secure your domaine, choose your design theme, and name of the blog. The following 30 days can be to create your first 3 pieces of content. Etc, etc. By breaking down your larger goal into smaller action items, you will achieve the end result a lot faster.
3. Tweak them if necessary.
Unless you carved yours in stone, there is no reason you can’t tweak your goals a little. Perhaps you set some really lofty ones that you now realize you just can’t take on due to time constraints or personal reasons. It’s all good – tweak and pivot! Maybe reduce the scale a little instead of just throwing your idea out the window. For example, if your goal was to get a personal trainer and workout 5 times a week and you now realize it’s impossible to accomplish, maybe you just join a gym and go twice a week. It will still help you get closer to your ultimate end result.
As much as it might feel like the year is flying by, it’s never too late to start something and I always say, there is no time like the present…unless you’re like me and expecting a baby in the next few weeks…might not be the BEST time to try and start and finish a project. But you get my point! So go pull out those goals, evaluate them and see how you can still make 2019 the best. year. ever!
