Home Health Hack X Dyson
It’s hard to believe we have already been in our new house for a month. The time has really flown by. Despite the fact that we are still waiting on quite a bit of furniture to be delivered, I feel so settled and am obsessed with the decor (thanks to my super talented sister of Jessica Claire Interiors).
Prior to moving, the idea of transitioning from condo living to home ownership really overwhelmed me. From shoveling snow in the driveway, to taking out the garbage, I know it will be a lot more work than we are used to. Yet the little things we didn’t get in the condo, like the natural light and being surrounded by tons of trees in our residential neighbourhood make me feel so zen and happy. It is this new ambiance of our home that has inspired me to make more of an effort to keep our living space as pure and healthy as possible.
While I am consistent with my health and wellness routines in terms of diet and exercise, health in the home had never really been at the forefront of my mind. When I began to look into this further, I discovered that as humans, we consume around 1kg of food a day…but we actually breath in 15kg of air a day. 15kg of Toronto air- that just doesn’t sound so healthy. Add in the fact that indoor air is said to be at least 5 times more polluted than outdoor air and I swear I can practically start to see the pollutants floating around me!
Luckily there are measures you can take such as using air purifiers in your home and I have been super lucky to be able to try out the new Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link. I had first seen this air purifier in my sister’s home. She uses it daily so I was familiar with it, yet never really paid attention to all of the features that I now appreciate so much.
First and foremost it captures gases and removes 99.97% of allergens and pollutants from the air in your home. This makes me feel amazing in our new place and also slightly concerns me about how we had been living for so many years. There are lots of cool features that go along with this, such as being able to monitor the air quality from your smart phone.
By far my favourite feature, however, of the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link is that it functions as both a heater and a fan. This is particularly perfect for our new house. It is almost 100 years old and has been renovated overtime, so some parts can be boiling hot while others can be freezing. For example, our bedroom runs about 10 degrees warmer than our closet in the same room!
I sleep with my Dyson by my bed every single night and have often switched quickly and efficiently between the hot and cold feature. I’m not going to lie, even if it didn’t have all these great features I would use it just for the soothing white noise it gives off.
Now that I am much more aware of the air quality in our home, I’ve also taken precautions by incorporating cleaner household products into my daily routine and if you haven’t noticed on Instagram, I’ve turned into a bit of a plant lady. But I love that the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link can do most of the dirty work for me so I can focus on all the other tasks that come with a new home (and by that I mean delegate them to DC).
