MY TOP RANKING PODCASTS
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while or subscribe to my newsletter, you know I am a podcast junkie. Instead of just linking one or two in the Kale Khronicle this week under my #obsessed category, I thought I would give you a list with direct links to all the shows/episodes I have absolutely loved the past few months. I’ll also give a quick description as to what I loved about them so you can decide if it’s something you’re actually interested in. But before that, here are some quick answers to your most common podcast questions:
How do I listen: podcast app on the Iphone
When do I listen: first thing in the morning, after meditation while I’m eating breakfast, drinking coffee, getting ready for the day and always always always in the car.
Where do I find them: Instagram mostly! From people I follow who have either started their own or been interviewed and then end up subscribing to the show if I think the interviewer did a good job.
So here is a list of my fave episodes I’ve enjoyed the last few months:
Earn Your Happy Podcast – Episode 346 – interview with Sarah Nicole Landry
Topic: body image, social media, business
What I loved: I’ve been a huge fan of Lori’s podcast for a while now and have always been a major fan of Sarah…aka @thebirdspapaya (if you live under a rock lol). I never tire of hearing Sarah’s body transformation story and truly believe it will resonate with anyone of all shapes and sizes. What I loved most, however, was listening to Sarah’s strategy, day-to-day insights and business tactics behind her wildly successful social media account. For anyone ever curious about starting to work with brands or why we do sponsored posts, this is also a good one.
The Goop Podcast – December 27, 2018 – Why We Use Food to Shame Ourselves
Topic: emotional eating, disordered eating, self-awareness
What I Loved: For the most part, many women, compared to men, feel an emotional attachment to food. This episode breaks down where it all starts (think reward systems growing up) and how we allow to it subconsciously control our behaviour patterns and lifestyle choices in adulthood. It is an interview with Geneen Roth, a thought leader that I personally love. She goes into depth about the notion of scarcity and food. For example, when dessert arrives at a restaurant and we’re already sad that it’s going to be eaten and all gone soon. I mean, haven’t you ever felt that way about food too? Such an interesting episode! (Also Gwyneth did not interview which I liked because I personally think she is a terrible interviewer).
The Influencer Podcast – Episode 98 – interview with James Wedmore
Topic: entrepreneurship, passion, vulnerability, inspiration
What I loved: Well first and foremost I adore the host Julie Solomon and think she is an incredible interviewer. She allows her guests to actually finish their stories, never interrupts and asks thought provoking questions. Literally nothing bugs me more than hosts that interrupt and bring the show back to themselves. Ugh. Anyways, wow this one was full of MAJOR inspo. From taking chances in business, to getting vulnerable, if you have an idea, project or passion you want to pursue but are too afraid, listen to this one! I haven’t done much further research on James since the show but just felt so fired up after listening to his story.
The Him and Her Podcast – Episode 169 – interview with Dr. Drew Pinsky
Topic: drugs, addiction, celebrity
What I loved: I don’t have much interest in the topic of this podcast but because I religiously listen to the Him and Her show I didn’t want to skip an episode. It turns out it was highly entertaining and also interesting. You might remember Dr. Drew Pinsky from shows like Celebrity Rehab on VH1 (at least I did #embarassing). It wasn’t the celebrity gossip that interested me though, but the information on addiction. He talks about depression, substance abuse and had a really interesting take on dating in this day and age with apps, etc.
Goal Digger Podcast – Episode 177 – Guide to SEO
Topic: SEO, blogging, business
What I loved: This episode was so informative that I would have happily paid for it in a course. I actually keep meaning to go back and listen with pen and paper and take proper notes. It basically breaks down search engine optimization in layman’s terms and gives a step by step guide on how to do basic SEO yourself. If you want to improve your brand SEO, I highly suggest listening. I definitely have so much more work to do in this department but have implemented some of the basic strategies to start.
Spin, Skin and Other Addictions – Episode 26 – Interview with Kelly LeVeque
Topic: food, gut health, pregnancy
What I loved: Aside from host Sam being one of my blogging besties and me being a super fan of Kelly, I LOVED learning more about Kelly’s approach to health, especially as it pertains to pregnancy. I always love listening to information on gut health so it was really cool learning how the gut changes in pregnancy. Probably a little alarming but how bad it really is to carb load in third trimester, but hey, at least I listened to the episode right?
There are so many more I love but if you guys like this post, maybe I’ll turn it into a monthly series or recap of my fave eps! Let me know if that’s something you want to see! And comment below if there are any other amazing shows and/or episodes you want to share!
