I’m so excited to be sharing this long-awaited kitchen blog post with you! Just like I did for the ensuite bathroom blog post, this will simply link everything in the kitchen that you have been asking about: from paint colours and back splash to appliances and furniture.
The kitchen was designed by Ashley Montgomery Design and all of the millwork (cabinets, island, fridge panel, hood panel, pantry doors, wood shelves, etc.) was custom built by Zachary Tonge.
Together, with our contractor, they came up with our dream design and it turned out better than we ever could have expected.
You’ll see from the ‘before’ and construction photos that we gutted the old kitchen and removed all built in’s, appliances and fixtures. For the most part, we kept the layout similar enough so there was not a ton of plumbing and electrical work to do from scratch which saved a lot of time and money.
We also kept the floors the exact same, didn’t add any walls, no new windows, didn’t make the space bigger or do any structural work. So while it was a big reno, it wasn’t like building from scratch.
Lastly, for appliances, we knew we wanted the fridge to be panelled and for the oven to be white, so it fit within our aesthetic. That meant we were limited to what we could select (only certain types of fridges can be panelled, for example) so our appliance choice was highly aesthetically motivated.
