I have dreamed of designing my own kitchen for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family that absolutely loves and celebrates food and the kitchen was the heart and soul of the house. I wanted the same thing for my family one day and knew exactly what I wanted it to look like…basically picture any Nancy Myers movie and that was my inspo!
As you now know, DC and I recently moved into a new house and the kitchen has been our main project. Designing the layout and choosing appliances was so fun but I knew my vision would really come to life when we chose the furniture and accessories.
The vibe we were going for is “farmhouse chic”…I think. I’m not an expert in design but that’s what I call it haha! Think modern pieces with a natural, cozy flare. One of the first items we went with were the Crescent Black Rush Seat Dining Chairs from Crate and Barrel. They encompassed exactly what I wanted to achieve in the kitchen. The black wood frame is sleek and formal and the woven seats give it that natural, comfortable look. I am also really into neutrals versus colours so I knew the chairs would be the perfect jumping off point to choose other pieces and match accessories.
Speaking of accessories, we started decorating at the perfect time because the Leanne Ford Collection dropped at Crate and Barrel. And OMG I have never been more in love! Her aesthetic is basically my entire Pinterest board and saved Instagram images. If I could decorate the entire house in this collection, I would.
I picked up a few of her staple items that I thought I could either serve with or simply just to display as decor. We have a ton of open shelves throughout the kitchen and family room and even her dinner plates could be used just as decor, they are so beautiful.
To give you all the deets, we picked up two of the range dinner plates and 2 of the range bowls. The imperfect edges give it a unique, one-of-a-kind feel and I love the black trim detail. I am going to display the bowls stacked on our shelves and can see myself styling recipes galore for IG on the dinner plates.
I couldn’t help myself and had to have a couple of the Jackie Placemats in black. They have that classic farmhouse linen look that I dreamed of.
Lastly, the tabletop item I’m most excited about and will permanently live on our kitchen table is the Uplifter Cream Pitcher. I mean, can you handle this?! I see myself at a flower shop in the near future buying all the pompous grass to fill it up…except DC and I fight about pompous grass all the time and he is not down. So we agreed on fresh flowers for now.
The entire Leanne Ford Collection is still available at Crate and Barrel and I highly suggest you check it out before it’s scooped up!
Now that we have our main kitchen table decor, I’m excited to continue decorating and can’t wait to share the rest with you guys!
